Investing
in Yankee's Future Scholarship
Background
- Yankee awards two $1,250 Royal W. Smith, Jr. Scholarships each year.
- Payment is made directly to students in two installments upon proof
of enrollment.
- Scholarship can be used to defray tuition, room and board, books and
other academic charges.
- Decisions are based on merit including academic, agricultural, civic
accomplishment and essay content.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a college-matriculated member of a Yankee Farm Credit
stockholder farm family enrolled in a college program leading to a bachelor's
or an associate's degree. (To own Farm Credit stock, an individual must
be a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted for permanent residence; own
agricultural land or be engaged in harvesting, production, processing
or marketing of agricultural products.)
- Applicants will be eligible for a scholarship regardless of their
course of study. However, preference is given to the study of agriculture
or related fields.
Application
- Application listing name, address, college attending, major area
of academic study and activities.
- Our essay topic changes every year. This year's topic is: "Why
I wish to pursue a career in my selected major."
- Brief biography and cover letter.
- Proof of college attendance or acceptance must be submitted by scholarship
recipients before a check can be issued.
- A photo suitable for publicity is requested upon winner notification.
Other
- Yankee reserves the right to reject applications deemed inadequate
to meet scholarship qualifications.
- Yankee reserves the right to extend our application period if a sufficient
number of applications are not received.
